DRD Workshop: Empowering Civil Society for Peace in Las-Annod through Positive Dialogue and Collaboration

Civil Society assists as a pillar of democracy systems, playing an important role in democracy and good governance for post-conflicts. They can play a vital role in developing, monitoring human rights situations, implementing strategies that promote peace and security, monitoring of agreements, and providing recommendations, and information to decision makers.
Furthermore, civil society organizations have significant experience in resolving conflicts and fostering reconciliation at the community level. Many of these organizations may established relationships with local leaders, traditional institutions, and religious groups, making them an important resource for facilitation and mediation efforts.  By building trust, and interdependence among different parties, civil society organizations can facilitate dialogue, leading to the resolution of disputes and the restoration of peaceful coexistence.

One-day workshop on CSO forum for emphasizing peace building in Las-Annod, Somalia.

On April 27th Daryeel Relief Development (DRD) concluded a one-day workshop   on CSO forum   for emphasizing peacebuilding in Las-Annod, Somalia.  The overall aim of the workshop was to provide a platform for advanced positive dialogue on mechanism for creating a civil society organization opportunity for promoting dialogue, facilitation and mediation in peacebuilding. The participants of CSOs were from Professional Associations including Nugal University(NU), Horn International University (HIU), Alpha University (AU), Sool University and Ilays University. And they also from   different CSOs such as Dervish Youth Revolution (DEYR), SSC-Khaatumo Youth Association (SKYA), and Hiigsi Women Conditions(HWC).

Achieving peace and stability in Las-Annod has been a long-standing challenges and requires collaboration from different stakeholders, especially civil society organizations. At DRD believe that civil society organizations have a vital role to play in achieving this goal.  We understand that civil society organizations in Las-Annod are faced with various challenges in their efforts to promote peace and security. These challenges may include limited resources, inadequate training, and a lack of access to networks and partnerships.

DRD acknowledges the crucial role of civil society in Las-Annod’s peace efforts, working together for a brighter future.

Therefore, to effectively participate in peace building, civil society organizations in Las-Annod require support in various areas including funding and resources, a secure operating environment, coordination and collaboration among these CSOs, and capacity-building activities such as training workshops, mentoring programs, and promoting accountability and transparency in their operations.
